The deal was supposedly based on a tender by Venezuelan oil major PDVSA, increasingly a supplier concentrated on China.

But other knowledgable sources in China indicated this week that the figure represents the HNA Group-controlled yard’s asking price of $90m per ship and no such deal has been concluded.
