The measure rose at an annual pace of 7% to EUR 11.5bn ($13bn), according to balance of payment figures released by the Bank of Greece.

The last time they increased was in 2010, when they jumped by 14% to EUR 14bn. That was still shy of their record performance of EUR 17.6bn in the shipping boom year of 2008.

The Bank of Greece keeps monthly track of the freight and other ship-related income brought home by local shipping management companies.
