Spanish shipbuilder Navantia is making a fresh bid to re-enter the market for large crude oil tankers.

The state-owned yard is hoping to team up with an Asian shipbuilder to tender for the construction of four suezmaxes for a domestic owner, say Spanish sources.

Engineers from Navantia are said to have held talks with South Korean shipbuilders Samsung Heavy Industries, DSME and Hyundai Heavy Industries with a view to forging a partnership.
