The company asked District Judge Valerie Caproni for an order barring arrests and has offered to deposit the full $1.18m owed to the Danish bunker supplier until the dispute is sorted out.
The so-called interpleader lawsuit adds to more than a dozen similar cases before Caproni, who is scheduled to decide soon whether her court has jurisdiction to block arrests of ships that are not in New York or expected to call there.
