The company, which has a fleet of 18 tankers trading, has had a majority of its tonnage operating spot but the owner is clearly also being tempted by firm period rates. Its two aframaxes, the 112,000-dwt DHT Sophie (built 2003) and DHT Cathy (built 2004), have been taken by Shell for two years at $22,500 per day.

The energy major has also fixed one of its two suezmaxes for a year at an attractive rate.
