Carisbrooke Shipping has filed a lawsuit blaming a shipper of containerised ethylene for an explosion that damaged a multipurpose ship (MPP).
The UK shipping company is seeking more than $5.3m in damages against US gas distributor Airgas in the US federal court in Houston, Texas.
Carisbrooke filed the lawsuit jointly with Anna C GMBH, the German KG (limited partnership) outfit that owns the 10,600-dwt UAL Nigeria (built 2006), which traded as the UAL Antwerp at the time of the incident.
