Banks trying to manage an extended trough in the dry bulk sector are faced with a changed landscape marked by heightened regulatory pressure at one end but by lighter interest from potential buyers of distressed loans at the other.

That is the view from veteran Citigroup banker Michael Parker, who tells TradeWinds that lenders are less able to “kick the can” in the latest dry crisis and may also have fewer solutions than before.
