Speaking about the drivers for its 3,000-cbm, 6,500-cbm, 12,000-cbm and 20,000-cbm designs unveiled this week, Wartsila Ship Power sales director for the company’s Merchant Ship Design Solutions team Jacob Thygesen says they were initially developed with a focus on Southeast Asia and north-western Europe. But he admits the company has also had strong interest from “the Americas”.
Thygesen said: “We are definitely in serious and concrete talks with several owners that are considering building in China.”
