A catamaran passengership that caught fire in Greece this week has suffered significant damage to the extent of possibly being a total loss, TradeWinds has learned.

The 4,900-gt passengership Highspeed 5 (built 2005) was moored for regular repairs and annual inspections at Drapetsona near Piraeus when the incident occurred, its operator, Hellenic Seaways, says. The ship’s chief electrician died in the accident, the circumstances of which have not yet been clarified.
