Spot rates for capesizes increase by $500 per day

Spot rates for capesizes increased $500 per day over the last week to stand at $4,300 per day by Wednesday.

Oldendorff Carriers is understood to have taken the 178,000-dwt Q Myrtalia (built 2011) from Quintana Shipping on what is believed to be similar terms as the Navios Lumen.

Quintana appears to have also secured a panamax period charter with Western Bulk Carriers (WBC), taking the 84,000-dwt Q Deb (built 2014) for four to seven months at $7,750 per day.
