Expanding Japanese owner Nisshin Shipping is buying a trio of long-range-one (LR1) products tanker newbuildings from US-listed Scorpio Bulkers.
The 74,000-dwt tankers, Hull Nos 3122, 3123 and 3124, are being built at South Korea’s Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for delivery in 2016.
The price being paid by Nisshin is believed to be $43m to $43.5m apiece.
TradeWinds reported in August last year that Nisshin had ordered two 74,000-dwt tankers at the yard for $47.5m
