Gas buyer Gail (India) is expected to stick with its request for the participation of Indian shipbuilders in one-third of the nine LNG carrier newbuildings it requires when it issues a revised tender for the charter of the vessels.
But those following the business closely are indicating that Gail, with the support of the Indian government, may offer to take the responsibility for any late delivery or deficiencies on the LNG ships that will need to be built in India.
