The Daedong-built, 72,000-dwt Pontodamon (built 2000) is said to have been sold to an undisclosed buyer for $6m, which is roughly in line with market expectations.

Ocean Freighters’ management, however, expressed “surprise” at the information, saying the vessel is still trading for the company.

The owner bought the ship as Poros in 2004 for about $35.5m.

In the same year, Ocean Freighters also bought a similar vessel — the 76,000-dwt Matheos (renamed Pontovremon, built 2001) — for $37.5m.
