At the recent Connecticut Maritime Association (CMA) conference, an American Maritime Officers’ (AMO) union official urged US Maritime Administrator Paul “Chip” Jaenichen to include tank capacity in the proposed ships to help meet the demand for qualified crew in the booming domestic tanker trade.
The State University of New York Maritime College (SUNY Maritime) also wants two bridges on its new training ship so that two teams of deck cadets can be trained simultaneously.
