A major rejig of the global container fleet is underway thanks to the introduction of giant boxships on the Asia-to-Europe trade lanes.

First-generation post-panamaxes of up to 12,000 teu are being shifted onto north-south liner routes, while the 4,700-teu vessels they are displacing are looking for new work.

Is intra-Asia a trade in which they will be able to seek gainful employment? Asian liner experts do not think so.
