The world’s largest boxship owner has inked a $470m deal for five fuel-efficient “Saver”-design vessels at Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction’s Subic Bay yard in the Philippines (HHIC-Phil). The ships will be delivered in 2017 when they will begin 17-year charters with a leading liner operator, believed to be Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC), which has been linked to orders for tonnage of this size at the yard.
