The 5,470-teu Maersk Tigris (built 2014) was boarded by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) after shots were fired across it in international waters on Tuesday.

The vessel, chartered by Maersk Line and managed by Rickmers Reederei, was taken into Iranian waters and anchored near Qeshm island.

An “informed source” cited by Iran’s Fars News Agency says the ship “had a dispute with the Iranian port administration, which obtained a court order to impound it”.
