The International Transport Forum (ITF) and the World Shipping Council (WSC) appear at odds over the impact of ultra large containerships (ULCs), although both organisations seem open to debating their use in a public forum.

“Container lines have typically not consulted anyone on new mega-ships,” the ITF said in a policy paper (see story above).

The think tank argues that “a constructive discussion” should take place between liner operators and other transport stakeholders, including governments, regulators and port authorities.
