The Imabari-built vessel, which is due for special survey in September, fetched $2.7m — some $600,000 less than the value stated by online platform VesselsValue.com — according to sources. Ocean Freighters bought the vessel as Rubin Forest in 2004 for $16m.
The Greek owner, which is listed with seven ships, all bulkers, was last month said to have sold another vessel, the 72,000-dwt Pontodamon (built 2000) for $6m but, at the time, the company said it was still in its fleet.
