A newly formed shipbuilding association with a membership made up entirely of Asian shipyards is hoping to influence global regulation at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The Active Shipbuilding Experts Federation (ASEF) was formed at its first general meeting in Nantong, China, this week. It is made up of industry associations from nine shipbuilding countries: the big three Asian shipbuilders of China, South Korea and Japan, as well as India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
