The deal is on subjects and the ships are costing $50.5m each, according to sources. The vessels are believed to have been chartered by Saudi Arabia’s Maaden family. In 2004, Bakri ordered the 35,000-cbm Al Jabirah and Al Barrah (both built 2000) from DSME, reportedly for in excess of $50m each, including five to 10-year charters to compatriot Saudi Arabia Basic Industries Co (Sabic).
