The prospect of shipowners paying less for their protection-and-indemnity (P&I) cover was given a boost this week as an across the board reduction in the reinsurance tariff charged by the clubs was unveiled.
Tankers gets a more than 10% reduction, while bulkers, boxships, cruiseships and ferries benefit from a more than 7% cut in the tariff.
The reductions that amount to an across the board figure of about 8% are bigger than last year and somewhat more than had been expected.
