Managing director Benoit Timmermans confirms the move but says it will not involve all the company’s capesizes and not those covered by contracts. But in some cases a layup will be a sound strategical decision. Bocimar will also seek to cut the operating costs on its ships and ensure that ships can be reactivated on short notice.
The company co-operates with Star Bulk, Monaco-based CTM and Oslo-listed Golden Ocean Group in Capesize Chartering.
