Peter Stokes, a director at the Chilean group, says the diversified shipping company is not an asset player by nature but it has been regularly renewing its fleet.

“Lately, we have been spending money on renewing the LPG carrier fleet, for example,” he told TradeWinds at a reception onboard one of the group’s vessels in London.

“We have also been investing in tankers and we have also been increasing our controlled dry bulk fleet through long-term charter-in deals for newbuildings in Japan, most of which are back-to-back with cargo commitments.
