Caution still urged as sanctions eased but not eliminated

Many if not most mines have been removed from the Iran sanctions regime but a minefield it remains.

The start of eased sanctions removes a number of key restriction on Iran but legal experts say companies, including those in the shipping business, should still tread carefully as so-called implementation day leaves many prohibitions in place, particularly in the US.

“Caution must still be exercised,” wrote lawyers at UK firm Clyde & Co in a client note.
