At least $19.3m in cargo claims have been either filed or threatened in the legal battle over the sinking of TOTE Maritime’s El Faro.
The ballooning total adds to $5m in settlements with family members of 10 crew members and officers who perished when the ro-ro went down 1 October, as well as unspecified claims sought by the remaining families.
