I was inspired by Theodore Veniamis’ comments at Naftemporiki Forum in a recent issue of TradeWinds on the attempts by the European Union (EU) to tax Greek shipping.

The EU’s drive to dismantle the favourable tax regime enjoyed by Greek shipping for so many years was rightly described by Veniamis as a shot in the foot.

Greek shipping is one of the brighter spots in an otherwise gloomy Greek economic landscape.
