Company chief executive Camilla Grieg confirms the sale of the 39,000-dwt Star Eagle (built 1981) to China and says the Star Evivva (built 1982) will follow shortly.

Last year, the company sold the 39,000-dwt Star Atlantic (built 1981) for scrap.

Grieg subsidiary Grieg Green, set up in 2001, handles all the parent’s recycling, which uses environmentally friendly facilities.

The Bergen-based group has a number of even older bulkers and expects more ships to be scrapped.
