The pace of ship layups has picked up considerably in Greece over the past couple of weeks, with local owners removing up to a dozen vessels from active service. More are expected to join them in a matter of days.
TradeWinds reported late last month how Greek owners had begun laying up midsize bulkers and boxships at Elefsina, the country’s traditional anchorage area for idling tonnage because it lies conveniently close to Piraeus.
