A Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) safety report into the collision of the ro-ro passenger ferry Bahamas Celebration (built 1981) with the shoreline in October 2014 has identified some serious safety non-compliances onboard the vessel.

Although there were no injuries to passengers when the vessel hit the eastern shore as it departed the port of Freeport at 20.18pm on its regular trip to Palm Beach Florida, the Bahamas Celebration — with 810 passengers and 378 crew onboard — suffered sufficient damage that it had to be demolished.
