Greek owner Katsikis & Sigalas has purchased a modern kamsarmax bulker and may follow up with more acquisitions as part of an expansion programme.
Katsikis & Sigalas submitted the winning bid of a firm SGD 20m ($14.6m) at an auction of the Hyundai Heavy Industries-built, 81,000-dwt Archimedes (built 2011) in Singapore last week.
Director Vassilis Katsikis confirmed the acquisition to Trade-Winds but declined to comment on the sum paid.
