The IHI-built vessel is said to be fetching a price of $6.9m.
Market sources say negotiations may have begun last month, just before ship prices started to rise, as the value of the unit would now be fractionally higher.
The company is also said to be inviting inspections and offers for yet another of its bulkers, the 53,600-dwt Alam Murni (built 2003).
