Optimism in the panamax market has created renewed interest in a series of abandoned panamax newbuildings but controversy is brewing over the technical supervision of the vessels.
The ships are a series of nine contracted at Rongsheng Heavy Industries by a Beijing-based company called CMG Shipping. They were built under subcontract at a series of third-party yards and launched as far back as 2012 but were never delivered.
