The North of England Club has leapt to the top of the protection-and-indemnity (P&I) club profitability league with a surplus of $90m.
The exceptionally good result is the product of a year when most things went right for the Newcastle-based club.
It was a very benign year for both smaller and larger claims, with a strategy of parting company with fleets that were not paying their way appearing to pay off.
