Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line) is behind a $500m deal for some of the biggest containerships to be ordered this year.

The Japanese carrier has returned to Japan Marine United (JMU) for five more 14,000-teu neo-panamaxes in only the second order of boxships of this size to be placed this year.

The deal pushes NYK’s tally to 15 ships of this size to be built at JMU’s Kure shipyard, following an earlier order for 10 ships placed between April 2014 and July 2015.
