The UK has decided to extend funding for the country’s remaining ETV by another five years.
The vessel — located off Orkney in Scotland — was the last in a series of four scheduled for decommissioning as part of a widespread cost-cutting exercise in the UK that also affected the Maritime & Coastguard Agency.
The government admitted it had changed its mind on the vessels and described ETVs as a “vital service”.
