Brokers report that vessels being fixed to lift shipments can obtain rates of around $35,000 to $37,000 per day, up from levels in the $20,000 range seen in the first half of this year.

They say at least part of the ballast bonus on some LNG fixtures is starting to be paid.

Shipowners add that two vessels controlled by Golar LNG — one loading out of Snohvit LNG in Norway and the second from the Middle East — achieved charter payments that almost covered full round voyages.
