Japanese trader Marubeni Corp has secured an order seizing a bulker off Texas on allegations that ship operator Intergis is responsible for $32.8m in cargo losses and other costs that resulted from problems on another vessel.
Marubeni has also launched arbitration in London against South Korea’s Intergis and affiliate Dongkuk Steel Mill Group.
US District Judge Gray Miller, of the federal court in Houston, issued an order attaching Intergis’ 58,700-dwt DK Initio (built 2007).
