CSSC Huangpu and KC Maritime clash over ultramax order

A legal row has erupted between KC Maritime Ltd and state-owned Chinese shipbuilder CSSC Huangpu Wenchong over an order for ultramax bulkers.

A hearing has already taken place in the High Court of Hong Kong following an application by the yard for a freezing order on KC Maritime assets, with a ruling expected shortly.

The dispute is over KC Maritime’s order for a total of four Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (Sdari)-designed ultramaxes booked for around $27m each in 2013.
