Jone Hognestad, president of Waterfront — the shipping arm of the world’s largest methanol producer, Methanex — tells TradeWinds that the 49,999-dwt Mari Jone (built 2016) has run uninterrupted on methanol for up to 15 hours per day.

Hognestad says at least two of the other four delivered ships have also used methanol in their MAN B&W ME-LGI two-stroke duel-fuel engines but they have also been running on heavy fuel oil (HFO) and diesel.
