Shippers deserting Hanjin could provide just the tonic the container market needs, with spot rates between Asia and Europe of $1,000 per teu deemed feasible, according to Maritime Strategies International (MSI).
The UK analyst argues that an impasse while Hanjin remains under court administration could lead shippers to abandon it en masse, as it is forced to skip sailings or idle the bulk of its fleet.
