Newbuilding demand has hit the buffers big time this year, heaping fresh challenges on already troubled shipbuilders and blurring where yard prices now stand. South Korea’s big three yards have notched up just 22 orders between them to date this year.
DSME has pulled in VLCCs and LNG carriers from loyal client John Angelicoussis, who openly said the order was designed to support the deeply troubled yard.
