Japan's K Line has fixed a new specialised coal carrier to power company Jera.

The 100,000-dwt Miyagawu Maru was delivered on Tuesday from the Marugame yard of Imabari Shipbuilding.

The "Hekinan Max" was jointly developed by the owner and the yard to maximise transport volume to the discharging terminal, Jera's Hekinan thermal power plant in Aichi.

The vessel will be principally involved in "long-term service" carrying thermal coal, K Line said.
