Of the other high-profile incidents the 1967 Torrey Canyon disaster off of the Scilly Isles is the seventh largest at 119,000 tonnes of oil. The Sea Empress incident at Milford Haven in 1996 is 17th on the list at 72,000 tonnes, while the 2002 Prestige spill off Galicia released 63,000 tonnes of crude, the association says.
