There may be hope for a Beluga-owned vessel hijacked this weekend as a Royal Navy warship nears the scene in an effort to rescue its crew.

The fate of the 12,744-dwt Beluga Fortune (built 2008) would appear to hang on whether or not the crew remain safely concealed in a secure onboard compartment or ‘citadel’.

The Antigua & Barbuda-flagged heavy-lift vessel was boarded by pirates around 1,200 miles off East Africa and some 500 miles north-east of Seychelles on Sunday.
