Two intra-Asian liner operators have become the lastest shipowners to introduce an emergency cost recovery surcharge (ECRS).
Singapore-headquartered Bengal Tiger Line and Samudera Shipping say the new charges will come into force from 1 June 2018.
The Indonesian shipowner is adding a minimum of $15 per teu on routes between Singapore and south-east Asia and a minimum of $30 per teu to other destinations in Asia such as Vietnam and the Philippines.
