Hapag-Lloyd expects its fuel costs to rise by $1bn per year from 2020 as a result of new sulphur emission laws, says chief executive office Rolf Habben Jansen.

Speaking at the TradeWinds Shipowner Forum in Hamburg today, he said the German line would today unveil a new formula to be introduced on 1 January, 2019 to help it pay the bill.
