Fesco Transportation Group has picked up another feeder containership from German interests.

The Russian container carrier has acquired the 822-teu India (built 2003) from interests linked to Danz und Tietjens.

The ice-class 1A feedership will be able to operate in the northern part of the Sea of Okhotsk during winter.

It has been renamed the Fesco Magadan and has been placed under the Russian flag.

Fesco plans to operate the vessel from August on its cabotage services.

These are understood to be centred on Vladivostok and Vostochny, and include ports close to the Bering Strait.

It will be the largest vessel operated on the routes, currently run with ships of up to 707 teu.
