A new Lomar Shipping containership has run aground on a reef in the South Pacific.

The 2,190-teu Kea Trader (built 2017) got stuck en route from Papeete to Noumea on the Durand reefs off Mare, New Caledonia on Wednesday morning, the LNC website reported.

AIS data showed the ship remained aground on Wednesday.

Lomar confirmed to TradeWinds that the ship went aground 90 nautical miles south-east of New Caledonia.
