Singapore’s Berge Bulk has taken a key step on its decarbonisation journey through the retrofit of an ultramax bulker with a carbon capture system.
The 63,000-dwt Berge Yotei (built 2020) will test out the Filtree kit from Value Maritime, which combines carbon capture with exhaust gas cleaning.
The aim is to trap 15 tonnes of CO2 per day, a potential 30% reduction in emissions during operations.
